i never found a way to get polari to work with znc out the box because it doesn’t seem to want to support self signed certs or a reasonable way to login. i think i’m getting stuck at the handshake because of the cert but i have no idea. i may come back to this later because polari is so gnometastic. for now for irc i use weechat in a terminal which is absolutely awesome… .but sometimes you just want to open an gui irc client to have something off to the side slimmed down.
